조상은

작가는 삶의 여정 가운데 마주하는 빛의 흐름과 역동적인 운동성을 주제로 ‘사유의 빛’에 관한 회화 연구를 전개한다. 작품에서 역동적인 빛의 이미지는 삶 가운데 생성과 소멸을 지속하는 존재론적인 운동에 의해 경이로운 생명의 이미지로 탄생된다. 즉, 삶과 예술을 가로지르는 빛의 흐름은 작가의 내부에서 외부로, 외부에서 내부로 흐르는 내면의 운동에 의해 화면 위에 역동적인 생성의 예술로 표출된다. 이를 토대로 작가의 예술 세계는 찬란한 빛의 태동으로부터 영원한 미래로 나아가는 생명의 여정을 동적 이미지로 구체화하여 ‘빛과 생명이 흐르는 세계’를 형상화한다.

표현의 측면에서 빛과 운동성에 대한 회화 연구는 2차원의 화면 안에 운동하는 상태의 이미지가 응집되는 과정으로 전개되며, 작품은 긴 시간 동안 다층적으로 물감을 쌓아올리는 중첩 과정을 통해 밀도 높은 작품으로 완성된다. 그 과정에서 가시화와 비가시화의 경계에 있는 풍경과 대기에 흩뿌려진 빛의 흔적을 역동적인 힘의 표현으로 담아낸다. 특히 창작의 과정에서 색채의 표현은 다양한 방향으로 분산되고 교차되는 물감의 궤적에 의해 거대한 캔버스의 표면 안에 용해되면서 운동성에 대한 표현 연구를 심화해 간다. 작품에서 빛은 세계를 투사하면서 부유하는 물질적 특성에 의해 지속적으로 강렬한 운동과 흐름에 관한 이미지를 형상화한다. 이처럼 순간적인 빛의 이미지와 그 운동성에 관한 힘의 재생은 대상의 추상작용에 의해 끊임없이 동적 이미지로 탄생되고 변모하며, 이를 통해 21세기에 새로운 회화의 이미지를 제시하면서 미술사적인 의의를 발견해 간다. 이와 같이 작가의 예술 세계에서 빛에 관한 인식은 새로운 이미지를 종합하고 현시하는 과정으로 나아가는 동시에 예술적인 이상을 실현하는 생성의 예술로 전개된다.

평생 동안 지속적으로 그림을 그려 온 작가에게 예술의 공간은 일상 가운데 마주하는 빛의 이미지를 통해 인간의 삶에서부터 우주적인 세계를 성찰하는 사유의 공간이다. 이처럼 삶과 예술의 여정 가운데 강렬하게 흐르는 빛의 생명력을 매일 응시하고 성찰하면서 창조의 빛으로 확장되는 예술 세계를 희망한다. © 조상은

The artist develops a painting study on the "light of thought" under the theme of the flow of light and dynamic mobility encountered during the journey of life. In the work, the image of dynamic light is created as an image of phenomenal life by ontological movements that continue to generate and dissipate in life. In other words, the flow of light across life and art is expressed as an art of dynamic generation on the screen by the artist's inner movement flowing from inside to outside and from outside to inside. Based on this, the artist's art world embodies the journey of life from the birth of brilliant light to the eternal future into a dynamic image to embody a "world where light and life flow."

In terms of expression, painting research on light and mobility develops into a process in which images of moving state are aggregated in a two-dimensional screen, and the work is completed into a dense work through an overlapping process of stacking paints in multiple layers for a long time. In the process, the traces of light scattered in the landscape and atmosphere at the boundary between visualization and visualization are captured in a dynamic expression of power. In particular, in the process of creation, the expression of color is dispersed in various directions and dissolved in the surface of a huge canvas by the trajectory of crossed paints, deepening the research on expression of mobility. In the work, light constantly embodies images of intense movement and flow by the material properties of floating while projecting the world. In this way, the instant image of light and the regeneration of power related to its mobility are constantly created and transformed into dynamic images by the abstraction of the object, and through this, art history is discovered by presenting new images of paintings in the 21st century. In this way, the artist's perception of light in the art world proceeds to the process of synthesizing and presenting new images, while also developing into the art of generation that realizes artistic ideals.

For an artist who has been constantly painting throughout his life, the space of art is a space of thought that reflects on the cosmological world from human life through the image of light faced in everyday life. As such, we hope for an art world that expands into the light of creation while staring and reflecting on the vitality of light that flows intensely during the journey of life and art.

해가 저물어갈 무렵 어둠의 모습속에서 발견한 빛.

발리의 선셋은 뜨겁고도 화려했다.

밤이 깊을수록 다가올 빛에 대한 기대감과 희망은 그렇게 해바라기꽃을 연상케 했다.

뜨거운 태양에 곧 녹아내릴 듯한 어둠 또한 일상속에서 맞이하는 자연스럽고 익숙한 삶의 한 부분이다.

빛을 기다린다는 것은 때로는 기나긴 인내를 요구한다. 그러나 어둠이 지나간 자리에 다시 찾아올 빛에 대한

확신은 자연이 주는 약속처럼 따뜻한 위로와 희망의 꽃이 되어줄 것이다.

Light found in the dark at sunset.
The sunset in Bali was hot and colorful.

As the night went deeper, the expectation and hope for the coming light were reminiscent of sunflower flowers.
The darkness that is about to melt in the hot sun is also a natural and familiar part of life that you encounter in your daily life.
Waiting for light sometimes requires long patience. But the light that will return to the place where darkness has passed
Confidence will be the flower of warm consolation and hope like the promise of nature.
