2023년 계묘년 (癸卯年)은 육십간지의 40번째 해로 '검은 토끼의 해'를 의미합니다.

토끼는 영리하고 재빠르며 지혜와 꾀가 가득한 영리한 동물로 표현됩니다. 그래서 속담이나 전래동화에도 자주 등장을 합니다.

이상하고 재미있는 토끼들의 이야기를 아트보다 갤러리에 모았습니다. 김영곤, 김명진, 썬키 신진작가 3명의 작품을 통해 토끼 이야기를 만나보세요.

2023 is the year of the Black Rabbit in Korea.
Rabbits are represented as smart animals. They are smart, quick, and full of wisdom and tricks. So it often appears in Korean proverbs and traditional fairy tales.
I gathered strange and interesting stories of rabbits in the gallery. Meet the Rabbit Story through the art works of three artists, Kim Young-gon, Kim Myung-jin, and Ssunky.

작업을 하는데 있어 영화는 생각의 길을 열어주는 좋은 동반자역할을 한다.

엄청난 스토리와 상황이 전개되는 블럭버스터급 영화보다는 언제 어디서나 일어날 듯한 일상의 모습이 담긴 생활 밀착형 영화를 좋아하기 때문에.. 그 이야기에 공감하고 자연스럽게 빠져들며 주인공이 나여도 어색하지 않은 그런 영화..

내 작업도 그렇다. 피식 미소가 나오고 다시보며 공감할 수 있는 작품. 현대를 사며 꾸는 꿈, 살아가며 겪는 크고 작은 현실의 에피소드가 내 작업의 주제가 된다. 내 작품을 통해 관객에게 나의 감정을 강요하고 싶지 않다. 작품 속 주인공은 무표정으로, 자신의 감정을 숨긴다. 주관적 감정이 절제된 만큼 관객은 자유롭게 자신의 감정으로 작품을 해석할 수 있기 때문이다. 내 작업은 관객과의 대화다. 내가 말하기 보다는 관객에게 더 많이 말할 기회를 주고 싶다.

He paints a real daily life episodes with a warm sensibility. Smile come out from the paintings, sympathize with each other, we can dream of.

He metaphorically expresses these various emotions in his daily life.The most important thing for him is the conversation with the audience. He doesn't impose his feelings on the audience. His paintings feature on an expressionless man in glasses for this reason.You could be free after looking at his painting with your own feelings.

팬데믹 이후로 달라진 삶의 모습은 우리에게 많은 메세지를 준다.

평범한 일상은 한 순간에 사라질 수 있고 내일에 대한 막연한 기대도 더 이상 당연하지 않다. 미래에 대한 불안과 두려움, 불신이 가득한 냉전의 시대가 도래했다.

이 상실의 시대에 삶을 사는 중요한 가치는 무엇일까? 아마도 꿈이 아닐까 생각한다. 누구나 꿈을 꾸지만 불안정한 상태로 성장하면서 현실과 타협을 하고 꿈을 잊게 된다. 하지만 꿈꾸지 않는 삶은 죽은 삶과 마찬가지라고 생각하기에 나는 꿈에 대한 이야기를 하고 싶다. 꿈은 과거의 나와 현재의 나, 그리고 미래의 나를 연결해주는 매개체이자 현재를 사는 우리에게 삶의 방향을 제시해준다고 생각한다.

꿈을 그린다는 것은 희망을 심는 것이고 존재의 의미에 대해 알아가는 과정이다. 나는 꿈을 쫓고 이루고자 하는 마음을 그림으로 담아 현재를 살아가는 누군가에게 휴식과 희망의 메시지를 전달하고자 한다.

The changed appearance of life since the pandemic gives us a lot of messages.
Ordinary daily life can disappear in an instant, and vague expectations for tomorrow are no longer natural. The era of the Cold War, filled with anxiety, fear, and distrust of the future, has arrived.
What is the important value of life in this age of loss? I think maybe it's a dream. Everyone dreams, but as they grow into an unstable state, they compromise with reality and forget their dreams. But I want to talk about dreams because I think life without dream is same as the end of life. I think dreams are a medium that connects me in the past, in the present, in the future, and they provide us with a direction of life.
To paint a dream is same as to plant a hope and to learn about the meaning of existence. I want to convey a message of rest and hope to those who are living in the present and trying to make their dreams come ture through my paintings.

자연과 인간은 뗄 수 없는 하나라고 생각한다. 삶을 살아가면서 상처 받고 힘들 때 마다 어떠한 감정에도 흔들리지 않는 자연의 한 부분이 되고 싶다는 생각을 했다.

그 생각은 나의 모든 그림의 시작점이 되었다. 어떠한 것에도 흔들림 없이 피워내는 아름다운 들꽃과 이름 모를 싱그러운 잎사귀가 된다면 살면서 어떠한 풍파도 이겨낼 수 있을 것 같다. 작품 속 눈을 감은 인물은 현실에서 벗어나 그들의 유토피아를 꿈꾼다. 그 유토피아 공간은 실재하는 자연의 공간일 수 도 있고, 꿈 속 공간일 수도 있다. 동물들은 외롭지 않도록 작품을 보는 이의 친구가 되어주며, 아름다운 숲과 정원으로 초대하고 있다. 귀여운 동물들은 가만히 나를 그 곳으로 오기를 기다려주며, 언제든 앉을 수 있는 곳에 의자나 자리를 펴두고 먹을 것들을 둔 채, 작은 모닥불이나 촛불을 켜둔다. 그 모든 것들은 인간들을 위한 위로를 전하기 위함이다.

그림 속 시원하고 굵직한 붓터치와 자연의 색감으로 삶의 에너지를 얻고, 그 곳의 환상적인 자연과 하나가 되어, 평온하고 안온한 그 공간에 함께 해보기를 바란다.

Ssunki paints the theme of co-existence with nature, A peaceful garden that she saw in her childhood dreams.She wishes of a peaceful human being harmony with nature. She wanted to be a part of nature, like a strong tree that wouldn't shake whenever she was hurt by others.
This spirit is captured on the screen with beautiful wild flowers and fresh leaves.The utopian space in the paintings poses no threat to anything.

The innocent animals in her paintings comfort the visitors by being friends so that they do not feel lonely.
